After a decade of directing award-winning music videos and short films, in 2015 he wrote, directed, and shot the web series Nikola Tesla and the End of the World. It was nominated for Best British Series at the Raindance Film Festival and has been watched over a million times across Youtube and Prime, winning rave reviews from Nature and Libération. A second season was released on CBC and won the Grand Prize at the New Media Film Festival.
Ian's work as an editor includes TV dramas, commercials and art films, including multiple collaborations with musician Connie Kaldor and artist Kent Monkman. An opportunity to work with storied production company Windfall Films led to his current focus on documentaries about history, science and art. Ian has edited over a hundred hours of broadcast television for the BBC, PBS, Channel 4, France TV, CBC and NHK. In 2022 he was nominated for a Grierson for his work on Neutrino: Hunting the Ghost Particle.
